Sikhar dhawan Education
Shikhar Dhawan completed his early education from St. Mark’s Senior Secondary School, Delhi, he is only 12th pass. Dhawan was more interested in cricket than studies. He received cricket training from renowned coach Tarak Sinha at the prestigious Sonnet Cricket Academy.
Shikhar Dhawan IPL Career
Shikhar Dhawan made his IPL debut in 2008 with Delhi Daredevils. He scored four half-centuries that season and was the third-highest run-scorer for the team. In 2009, he was signed by Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Ashish Nehra. He played the next two IPL seasons for Mumbai Indians. While in 2011, Dhawan was bought by Deccan Chargers for $300,000 for the fourth season of IPL. Dhawan was made the captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team ahead of the 2013 Champions League Twenty20 tournament. But Darren Sammy replaced him as captain in the 2014 IPL.
The 2015 IPL season was a disastrous one for both Dhawan and Sunrisers. In 2016, however, he made a comeback. Dhawan was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 IPL. In the 2018 IPL auction, Dhawan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 5.2 crore using the RTM (Right to Match) card, while in the 2019 season, Dhawan was again included in the team of Delhi Capitals. Dhawan was the best scorer for Delhi Capitals in three consecutive seasons with 521 runs in 2019, 618 runs in 2020 and 587 runs in 2021.
In IPL 2021, Dhawan became the first player to score two consecutive centuries. He scored 101 times against CSK in Sharjah and 106 against PBKS in Dubai. Despite Dhawan’s consistently excellent performance, the Capitals released him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Punjab Kings bought him for Rs 8.25 crore in the auction. Dhawan became the second player to score 6000 runs after Virat Kohli in IPL 2022.
He was the best scorer for Punjab that season with 460 runs in 14 matches. Dhawan was made the captain of Punjab Kings in place of Mayank Agarwal for IPL 2023. Dhawan scored 373 runs in 11 matches at an average of 41.44 in the 16th season of IPL, while Shikhar is captaining Punjab this season.
Dhawan opened the Indian innings with Rohit Sharma in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, which was also quite successful. Dhawan and Rohit’s opening partnership is the second most successful for India after Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. Dhawan was in India’s team in the 2015 Australia World Cup. In the first match, he scored 73 against Pakistan, then scored 137 against South Africa in Melbourne. His century helped India beat South Africa in a 50-over World Cup for the first time. Dhawan scored his second century in the tournament against Ireland, scoring 100 to chase down a target of 260 runs. Dhawan was named India’s white-ball captain in 2021 while preparing for the Test series against England in England. India defeated West Indies 3–0 in August 2022 and South Africa 2–1 in October 2022 under Dhawan’s captaincy. Shikhar Dhawan made his T20 debut on 4 June 2010 against West Indies in Port of Spain under the captaincy of Suresh Raina. He scored 5 runs off 11 balls in his first T20 match. In 2018, Dhawan became the highest run-scorer in a calendar year in T20Is with 689 runs. Dhawan was a vital member for India in T20Is, leading the team in Sri Lanka until July 2021. But, he was suddenly dropped in the 2021 T20 World Cup and did not get a chance to play in T20s after that. Dhawan has so far scored 1759 runs in 66 T20I innings for India with the help of 11 half-centuries at a strike rate of 126.36.
Shikhar Dhawan Test Cricket Debut
Shikhar Dhawan started his Test career in 2013. In February 2013, Dhawan was selected in the Indian Test team for the four-match series against Australia. Dhawan replaced Sehwag in the third Test in Mohali on 14 March. Dhawan became the fastest batsman to score a century in his first Test match. He did this feat in just 85 balls. Dhawan played an innings of 187 runs in that match. However, Dhawan suffered a hand injury while fielding on the fourth day, so he did not bat in India’s second innings. Later he suffered a fracture in his left hand, due to which he had to be out of the fourth Test.
