IPL 2024 Live Score : Travis Head Fastest Half Century
IPL 2024 : Delhi Capitals today played their first ‘home’ match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Delhi Capitals played their first two matches in Visakhapatnam in which they won one match and lost one. They beat CSK by 20 runs, but lost to KKR by 106 runs.
Captain Rishabh Pant, who is back after 15 months of recovery after a car accident in December 2022, will be playing his first match in Delhi. In IPL 2024, he has scored 210 runs with two half-centuries in seven matches so far and his wicketkeeping as well as captaincy has been highly praised.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad is in a different rhythm after winning three matches in a row. They have also defeated Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru after defeating CSK at home in their last three matches and are currently fourth in the points table. SRH have also scored two of the highest totals in IPL this season, 277/3 and 287/3.
Delhi have had mixed results so far this season, although wins against LSG and GT have boosted their morale.
Pant will have to rely heavily on his bowlers to keep Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen quiet. Kuldeep Yadav’s left-arm wrist spin bowling could prove to be a game changer for Delhi against SRH, and Tristan Stubbs gives the captain a third spin option alongside Axar Patel. But all eyes will be on how Khaleel Ahmed and Ishant Sharma perform in the powerplay against Head and Sharma.
The biggest concern for SRH this season is the form of their bowlers, where only captain Pat Cummins has an economy rate of less than 8 runs per over (7.87). Veteran pacers Jaydev Unadkat (11.35) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (10.45) have been average, while spinners Mayank Markande (11.23) and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed (12.44) have also been given plenty of runs.
